BAXTER — Before this season, Baxter’s football program had never recorded a shutout during its time in 8-man.
The Bolts clinched a second shut out this season when it blasted Collins-Maxwell 60-0 during a non-district Homecoming victory on Friday night.
Baxter led 22-0 after one quarter and 48-0 at halftime and the defense held the Spartans to 151 total yards. Collins-Maxwell threw for only 54 yards.
The Bolts (6-0) remain undefeated on the season and have outscored their six opponents 388-99. They will be in the postseason for the first time in program history.
Two different Baxter players threw touchdowns, three Bolts rushed for a TD and three caught a touchdown.
Cody Damman led the Bolts with 124 passing yards and three scores and 55 rushing yards and two TDs.
Homecoming King Rory Heer added 113 rushing yards and a score and caught three passes for 61 yards and a TD.
Jake Travis also had a rushing TD and hauled in three passes for 43 yards and two scores. Treyton Travis grabbed a 41-yard TD reception and Cael Shepley had three catches for 20 yards.
The 41-yard TD pass to Treyton Travis came from Perrin Sulzle. It was the first touchdown pass of Sulzle’s career.
Grant Borts finished with 5 1/2 tackles and one sack to lead the defense, while Heer had a team-high six tackles.
Jake Travis, Nate McMinamen and Devan Fredregill all had 4 1/2 tackles. Fredregill also collected 2 1/2 tackles for loss and Jake Travis recovered a fumble.
Trice Clapper had 3 1/2 tackles and Treyton Travis snagged an interception.
Jake Travis put all seven of his kickoffs into the end zone for seven touchbacks and his only punt of the night went for 44 yards.
Collins-Maxwell (1-5) has lost five straight games after winning its opener.
