STATE CENTER — PCM’s baseball team took advantage of a sloppy start by Lynnville-Sully on Saturday during their non-conference game at the Rose Festival tournament.
The Mustangs scored three unearned runs in the first inning, Durant Van Dyke pitched into the seventh inning in his first start of the season and PCM shut out the Hawks 7-0.
“Durant did a good job for his first start,” PCM baseball coach Jeff Lindsay said. “He had good command of what he was doing. Defensively, we were really sound. When the pitcher knows the guys behind him will pick him, it can put you in a comfort zone.”
The Hawks were limited to two hits and committed three errors. PCM did not commit an error and had seven hits.
Both teams lost to host West Marshall. In the first game of the day, the Trojans rallied to knock off L-S, 5-4, in 10 innings.

Mitchell scored two runs and walked once, Duinink scored two runs, had one RBI, stole one base and was hit by a pitch and Webb finished with one run, one RBI and one stolen base.

“Zeb had a tough first inning but rebounded and did a good job to get through four innings,” Coach Lindsay said. “He mixed up his pitches well.”
PCM was without starters Sage Burns and Gavin Fenton for the day. Burns was gone due to his sister’s wedding and Fenton was away from the team because of a family vacation.
Lynnville-Sully (10-8) led its game with West Marshall 4-0 after five innings but the Trojans plated one in the sixth and three in the seventh to force extra innings. West Marshall ended the game with two outs in the bottom of the 10th.
