STORY CITY — PCM’s boys track and field team won four individual events and scored two relay wins during the Roland-Story Coed Quad on Thursday.
The Mustangs had 13 top-three finishes and placed second behind the host Norse. PCM (73) was eight points back of Roland-Story (81) and seven points in front of Hampton-Dumont/CAL (66). Southeast Valley scored 51 points in fourth.
The four individual wins came from Jacob Van Winkle, Beau Webb, Gatlin Boell and Ben Buys. Van Winkle scored 12 team points on the night, while Webb scored 8.5 points.
Van Winkle won the 200-meter dash in 24.08 seconds and was second in the 100 in 11.99.
Webb won the 1,600 in 5 minutes, 4.81 seconds, Boell scored a win in the 400 hurdles in 1:04.01 and Buys won the discus with a throw of 112 feet, 11 1/2 inches.
The Mustangs won the shuttle hurdle and distance medley relays. The shuttle hurdle team of Justin Maggard, Gavin Fenton, Trey Broderson and Boell won it with a time of 1:11.50 and the distance medley team of Kaden Hale, Landon Fenton, Boell and Webb hit the finish line first in 3:57.31.
PCM doubled up in the 100, 200, 400 hurdles and the discus. Landon Fenton was third in the 200 in 24.91, Andrew Mitchell was fourth in the 100 with a time of 12.5 and Griffin Olson was fourth in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:09.57.
In the discus, Gavin Van Baale finished third with a toss of 110-11 1/2 and Durant Van Dyke was fourth with a throw of 108-8. Van Dyke also finished second in the shot put with a career-best mark of 40-8.
The final top-five finishers came from Gavin Fenton and Maggard. Gavin Fenton’s fifth-place time in the 400 was clocked at 1:00.18 and Maggard placed fifth in the long jump with a leap of 18-4.
PCM was the runner-up in the 4x100, 4x200 and sprint medley relays.
The 4x100 team of Maggard, Van Winkle, Boell and Mitchell finished in 46.21. The 4x200 team of Mitchell, Maggard, Landon Fenton and Van Winkle hit the finish line in 1:36.18. The sprint medley team of Landon Fenton, Hale, Mitchell and Webb finished in 1:42.45.
