Newton bowlers split with Norwalk

Cardinals girls cruise past Warriors

WEST DES MOINES — The top four scores in Newton’s girls bowling matchup with Norwalk on Saturday were rolled by Cardinals.

In the boys’ competition, Norwalk defeated Newton 2,912 to 2,467.

“The varsity and JV girls had a good day on the lanes,” Newton bowling coach Christie Hughes said. “Although the boys team struggled today, I have confidence they will be able to finish the season strong and bring home a couple more wins before heading into our postseason schedule.”

The Newton girls held a 275-pin lead over Norwalk heading to the Baker games and added to the margin after an 810-687 surplus in the Bakers.

Price began the day with a 200 and then rolled a 160 for a 360 series. Miller was second with a 330 series. She had individual games of 155 and 175, which was the highest second game by the Cardinals.
