TRAER — Cole Smith led a group of nine wrestlers with a second-place finish at the North Tama Redhawk Invitational on Saturday.
The Bolts finished eighth in the nine-team race with 66 points, which was two points back of Des Moines Roosevelt.
Smith was 4-1 on the day with three pins at 120 pounds. His second-place finish was the best of the day for the Bolts.
Ashton Kerwin (126) and Curtis Gliem (132) were both 2-2 in their matches and placed fourth at their weight classes.
Callyn Bishop (160), Micah Kearns (220) and Aiden McFadden (285) all were fifth. Cody Samson (160) finished sixth. Bishop was 3-2 on the day and his final win was a 6-3 victory over Samson, who was 2-3 on the day. McFadden also was 3-2.
Hudson won the tournament with 179 points. Vinton-Shellsburg (167) edged Sigourney-Keota (162), while BGM (134.5) and Columbus Catholic (132) rounded out the top five.
