L-S wrestling wins twice at Trojan Duals

Maxwell Mintle, Mathis go unbeaten to lead Hawks at Pleasantville

PLEASANTVILLE — Lynnville-Sully’s wrestling team started the Trojan Duals with a pair of wins on Saturday. The Hawks didn’t finish as strong as they started though as L-S went 2-3 on the day in the tournament hosted by Pleasantville.

L-S began the day with a 59-24 win over Chariton and then downed Durant 42-30. The Hawks finished the day with losses to Pleasantville (48-30), Albia (63-18) and Ogden (42-40).

Maxwell Mintle was 5-0 on the day with three pins. Lane Mathis was 4-0 with a pair of pins and Gentry Walston and CJ Snethen both were 4-1.

In the win over Chariton, the Hawks recorded four pins and took six forfeits. Walston (113), Reese Dunsbergen (152), Gabe Wearmouth (160) and Mathis (220) all earned wins by fall. Sam Philby (120), Caleb Rea (132), Snethen (138), Maxwell Mintle (145), Ty Jones (170) and Isaac Vos (182) all recorded wins by forfeit.

The pins against Durant came from Snethen, Mathis and Miles Mintle (195). Walston, Maxwell Mintle, Dunsbergen and Wearmouth all took forfeits.

All 30 points scored against Pleasantville came by falls from Walston (120), Rea, Snethen, Maxwell Mintle and Miles Mintle.

Against Albia, Maxwell Mintle and Miles Mintle both won by pin and Mathis took a forfeit. Walston’s only loss on the day came at 113 against Albia’s Carter Anderson, who is ranked second in 2A at 106.

The narrow loss to Ogden came with pins by Walston, Snethen, Maxwell Mintle, Dunsbergen and Jones. Mathis took a forfeit and Philby won 9-1.

Miles Mintle finished the day 3-1 and Dunsbergen was 3-2.
