MAXWELL — Four Colfax-Mingo wrestlers went 3-0 and the Tigerhawk grapplers swept a quadrangular on Tuesday night.
The Tigerhawks weren’t challenged in any dual as they defeated Jasper County foe Baxter 46-31, downed Central Decatur 47-24 and handed host Collins-Maxwell a 54-23 loss.
Baxter was 1-2 on the night as the Bolts defeated Collins-Maxwell 42-27 and lost to Central Decatur 35-30.
The matchup between county programs started with a Micah Kearns forfeit at 220. Kenny Schlosser then tied it for C-M with a win by pin over Aiden McFadden at heavyweight.
Baxter’s Kailee Conradi (106) and C-M’s Danica Linn (113) each took forfeits to keep things tied.
The Bolts won the next two matches to take a 10-point lead. The first win was the biggest of the dual as Cole Smith pinned Class 1A No. 7 Noah Strohmeyer (113) with four seconds left in the match at 120.
Ashton Kerwin also downed Mariah Webster 11-1 at 126.
At 132, John McGill stopped the Bolts’ run with a 17-4 win over Curtis Gliem. Brad Matthews got Baxter another three points with a 7-2 win over Austin Lane.
The Tigerhawks then took over the dual with three straight pins. Kylie Doty pinned Tanner Shanks at 145, Hunter Stevens won by fall over Callyn Bishop at 152 and Maggie Schroeder defeated Hope Good by fall at 160.
The final three matches were forfeits for Baxter’s Jacob Hiemstra (170) and Colfax-Mingo’s Shane Aikin (182) and Ben Keeney (195).
The Tigerhawks scored four pins from Webster, McGill, Stevens and Schroeder against Collins-Maxwell. Strohmeyer, Keeney, Schlosser, Kirsten Frier (138) and Miranda McGill (160) all took forfeits.
Against Central Decatur, Webster, Stevens and Aikin won by fall, Strohmeyer, Doty, Keeney and Schlosser all took forfeits and John McGill won 17-2 in his match at 132.
John McGill (25-4), Schlosser (10-2), Stevens (21-7) and Keeney (17-10) all went 3-0. Stevens won three times by fall. Schroeder was 2-0 with two pins.
Strohmeyer (19-3), Doty, Webster and Aikin (14-10) all were 2-1. Webster won twice by fall.
For the Bolts against Collins-Maxwell, Kerwin, Bishop and Hiemstra all won by fall, while Matthews, Good, Kearns and McFadden took forfeits.
The loss to Central Decatur featured pins from Smith and Bishop and forfeit wins by Matthews, Good and McFadden.
Matthews was 3-0 on the day with a pair of forfeit wins. Kerwin, Smith, Bishop, Good, Hiemstra, Kearns (12-6) and McFadden all had two wins. Smith and Bishop both won twice by fall.
