BROOKLYN — John McGill and Shane Aikin were both 3-0 and Hunter Stevens and Noah Strohmeyer won two of their three matches but Colfax-Mingo’s wrestling team could only return home with one dual win in a quadrangular on Thursday night.
The Tigerhawks took 10 forfeits in a 66-6 win over Montezuma, but Colfax-Mingo lost to BGM 60-24 and were defeated 54-22 by Pleasantville.
McGill took a forfeit at 126 against Montezuma and then won his other two matches by fall, including a win at 132. McGill is now 20-3 on the season and he’s won 13 in a row.
Aikin also had two pins at 182 and the forfeit came against Montezuma. He has won eight straight matches to improve to 12-7 on the season.
The forfeit wins against Montezuma (1-8) came from Strohmeyer (113), Mariah Webster (120), McGill (126), Austin Lane (132), Kirsten Frier (138), Stevens (152), Miranda McGill (160), Maggie Schroeder (170), Aikin (182) and Ben Keeney (195).
The only contested match in the dual was won by Kylie Doty as she pinned Derek Fry in 57 seconds at 145.
Miranda McGill and Schroeder took a pair of forfeits each on the night as they both got their hands raised against BGM, too. The other wins against the Bears (7-6) came by fall from Aikin and John McGill.
Against Pleasantville (7-2), Strohmeyer (120) and John McGill (132) wrestled up to win by fall, Aikin won by fall at 182 and Stevens won his match 21-8 at 152.
Stevens and Strohmeyer both lost in their matches against BGM. Class 1A No. 7 Strohmeyer is now 15-2 on the season, while Stevens is 17-5.
Colfax-Mingo is now 8-10 overall.
