The Fading of Memory, a painted portrait created by Katherine McClure of Katherine McClure Photography in Prairie City, has recently been awarded the distinction of Imaging Excellence by Professional Photographers of America’s 2023 Merit Image Review. The ultimate goal of the Merit Image Review is to motivate and educate PPA members to be the best photographers they can possibly be. The PPA image merit is the industry standard for professional photography.
The Child of Man, Three Sunflowers on a Face, and The Last Kiss, painted portraits by McClure, were awarded the distinction of Merit.
All four pieces were part of a project inspired by famous works of art and a collaboration with Amelia Brown, a theatrical makeup specialist. These pieces were inspired by The Persistence of Memory by Salvador Dali, The Son of Man by René Magritte, Three Sunflowers in a Vase by Vincent Van Gogh, and The Kiss by Gustav Klimt.
