Cora Van Genderen was the first one to complete the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Program at Prairie City Public Library. Cora is the 3-year-old daughter of Cole and Chelsea Van Genderen. Cora says she really enjoys reading “The Berenstain Bears” books. Congratulations to Cora!
The 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program is a free program offered by the Prairie City Public Library to children who are not yet in kindergarten. When a parent signs up their child, they are given a tote bag with the program materials including logs to keep count of the number of books the child reads or has read to them. The kids earn a paperback book for every 100 books they read and a hardback book about going to kindergarten when they reach 1,000 books.
