Vivian Mae Van Wyngarden

Vivian Mae Van Wyngarden, age 93 of Monroe, passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at the Comfort House in Pella.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church in Monroe.  The family will greet friends following the service for coffee time following the funeral.  Private family burial will take place at Silent City Cemetery.  Memorials may be directed to Monroe Emergency Unit or the Old Settler Committee and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com

The daughter of Gradus and Henrietta (Steenhoek) Vande Lune, Vivian was born on December 29, 1929 at the family home in rural Prairie City.  She attended and graduated from Prairie City Schools.  On August 10, 1950, she was united in marriage to Wayne Van Wyngarden.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Monroe.  Vivian loved basketball, both playing in her younger days and watching as she got older.  She had a tremendous vegetable garden while on the farm.  The kids especially remember the Strawberries.  The  greatest thing she enjoyed were her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She remembered all of their birthdays and the activities they were involved in.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Randy (Linda) Van Wyngarden, Rick (Kathy) Van Wyngarden, Ronda (Rick) Butler and Ron (Krista) Van Wyngarden; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; two brothers, Doyle (Billie) Vande Lune and Gene (Louaine)) Vande Lune, as well as seversal nieces, nephews and other extended family.  Preceding Viivian in death were her parents, husband, Wayne in September of 2023 and a brother, Marvin Vande Lune and his wife Audrey.
