Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge is celebrating National Wildlife Refuge week by hosting a native tallgrass prairie seed collection event from 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday. Volunteers are needed to collect seeds on the refuge to help build more prairie as well as to create a greater diversity of plant species on existing prairie.
It is a lovely time to be outside on the prairie with the cooler weather, migrating wildlife, and fall blooms. To show their appreciation, the Friends of Neal Smith National Wildlife will sponsor a free lunch for those volunteers who are pre-registered.
