Mary Ann Spoelstra-Olivier

Mary Ann Spoelstra-Olivier, daughter of Charlie (Yelka) and Ada Henrietta (Bandstra) Spoelstra, was born March 30, 1954, in Knoxville, Iowa. She passed away July 21, 2022, at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

Mary attended Pella Christian Grade School and Pella Community High School, graduating with the class of 1972.

She was employed by Bandstra Supply and Pella Regional Health Center.          

On August 27, 1994 Mary was united in marriage with Kenneth Lee Olivier at the Open Bible Church in Pella, Iowa. 

Mary was a member of the Open Bible Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved country music, often attending music shows at Lake Rathbun with Kenny. She also enjoyed reading, puzzles and embroidery. Mary also loved her cats and watching her beloved Chicago Cubs.

Those left to cherish her memory are: Bernard and Cobie Spoelstra, Clarence and Nancy Spoelstra, sister-in-law Nela Spoelstra, Allen Spoelstra and Denise Bontrager, Gary and Beth Spoelstra, Duane and Lacey Olivier, Chris Olivier and Chelsea Erickson, Perry and Kelly Olivier and Amanda Oliver; many grandchildren, one sister-in-law Karen Wales and husband Bob, and many nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Olivier, her parents, her parents-in-law Edward and Jean Olivier, sister Charlene Wakefield, brothers: Marvin Spoelstra and Charles Spoelstra, sisters-in-law: Delores (Van Dorland) Spoelstra, Henrietta (Breen) Spoelstra, and brothers-in-law: Jim Wakefield and Charles Roose.

Mary will be missed by her family and friends. 

Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 6:00 pm, Friday, July 29, 2022, at the Garden Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, July 30, 2022, at the Open Bible Church in Pella. Memorials may be given to the Open Bible Church. The Garden Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
