Wilbur Dale Vander Kraan

Wilbur Dale Vander Kraan, age 93 of Prairie City, passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2022, at The Cottages in Pella.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at  10:00 am at Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City.  Burial will take place at Waveland Cemetery.  Visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City.   Memorials may be directed to Prairie City Ambulance Fund or the Mobility Worldwide of Leighton, Iowa.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com

The son of Adrian and Marie (Vander Linden) Vander Kraan, Wilbur was born on March 6, 1929 near Prairie City.  He attended school and graduated from Prairie City High School. Wilbur proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War.  On August 27, 1953, he was united in marriage to Ruth DeJong in Pella, Iowa.   To this union, three daughters were born.  Wilbur farmed in the area his entire career.  Wilbur was an avid reader, enjoyed putting together puzzles and liked to tell stories.

 Those left to honor his memory include his daughters, Linda (Ray) Chapman, Letha (Kevin) Schnoebelen and Lorna (Chris) Walraven; four grandchildren, Nathan (Laura) Schnoebelen, Jessica (Tim) Bannister and Trent and Seth Walreven;  three great grandchildren, Trinity, Avalonna, and Acheron.  Preceding Wilbur in death were his parents, wife, Ruth in 2015 a brother, Earl; and two sisters, Jean Wilk and Margaret Thorpe.
