DeHaai selected for PCM District 4 seat

Special election held for the school board position Feb. 15

According to unofficial results from the Jasper County Auditor’s Office on Tuesday, Rod DeHaai has won the PCM School Board Special Election. DeHaai received 413 votes to Arica Brinegar’s 190 for the District 4 seat on the board.

The seat was vacated by former board member Mitchell Chipps. A petition to hold a special election for the seat was given to the district after more than 222 signatures were gathered.

The first canvass for the election by both Jasper and Marion Counties will be held Feb. 22, with the final canvass conducted by Jasper County Feb. 28. The results will be final.

Following the canvass, DeHaai will be sworn in to the board. No write-in votes were cast in the special election.
