Linwood Maxwell Morecock

Linwood Maxwell Morecock was born Aug. 30, 1945, to George (Buster Junior) and Gladys Morecock in Richmond Va. Lin graduated Hermitage High School in Richmond, Va. He married Marilyn Jones, May 19, 1965, in North Carolina. They had one son, Leland Curtis Morecock. They later divorced. He married Suzanne Nolin June 29, 1985, in Glasser, N.J. They had Sarah, Zach and Halsey Morecock.

Lin owned an auto body shop in New Jersey. After he moved to Iowa, he worked at Vermeer, Bergen and Pentagon Construction. Lin could fix anything. He loved horse shows. He liked working on his 1959 Corvette. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, loved reading and especially loved learning new words. He loved cooking — fried chicken, shrimp scampi and pies were among his specialties. He loved making holiday meals with all the trimmings.

He is survived by his children, Lee and Dawn Morecock, Sarah and Zach Robinson, Zach Morecock and Halsey Morecock; as well as five grandchildren, Hunter Brindley, Jade Morecock, Peyton, Mary Margaret and George Robinson. He is preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of life will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29 at the Monroe Presbyterian Church, 115 S. Main St.
