Letter to the Editor: Way of the Cross Walk annual event

Letter to the Editor

On April 18, community members gathered to worship on Good Friday by sharing in the annual Way of the Cross Walk between seven of the downtown churches. Sponsored by the Mission Coalition, this observance allows believers to reflect on the final journey of Jesus Christ.

The Mission Coalition would like to thank the following churches that hosted a stop on the Walk: St. Stephen’s Episcopal, First Lutheran, First Christian, Congregational United Church of Christ, First United Methodist, United Presbyterian and First Presbyterian. Thanks to the volunteers who led the readings, prayers and singing at the stops: Rita Baker, Winonah McGee, Barry Hurto, Isaac Green, Merle Smith, Bruce Coyle, Corinne Coyle, Jim Lammey, Kyle Abel, Bruce Curtis, Bev Curtis, David Raymond, Dorothy Raymond, Kurt Hoover, Jenni Pryke, Bob Lane, Steve Knight, Linda Pierce, Jody Barr, Judy Manusos, Lee Cochran, Mickey Van Baale, Paul Millhollin and Larry Anderson. Thanks to those who unlocked doors, turned on lights and ran sound systems at the stops. Special thanks to members of the community choir who came together to sing at the final stop of the Walk.

In 2026, Good Friday will be on April 3. All are invited and encouraged to mark their calendars now and plan on participating in this event next year.

On behalf of the Mission Coalition,

Linda Curtis-Stolper
