Letter to the Editor: Another special concert

I just returned from another one of the great concerts at the Newton High School sponsored by the Jasper County Concert Association. It was, again, one of the very best. The auditorium was almost filled to overflowing.

This was “The Beach Boys” salute with five lively gentlemen at the keyboard, guitars and drums, and marvelous melodious voices. In my estimation they almost outdid the original Beach Boys who were so popular during the 60s and 70s. Their songs remain popular even today with young and old alike. The entertainment was almost non-stop, like getting three hours of great music all in half that time. The enthusiastic audience was clap-clap-clapping to many of those sail-on songs from days gone by. I haven’t seen a full house so lively and so very appreciative in a long time. It was the best of the best!

What a great privilege for those of us in this community to get such great entertainment four or five times a year at a minimum of cost, which is remaining the same for the next fiscal year ahead. Those new to the concert will get as free performance-of-the-year if they buy their tickets shortly. Details will be in the Newton News soon.
