Letter to the Editor: Newton football

Congratulations to the Cardinal football team, coaches, band, cheerleaders and Pacesetters on another successful season.

It takes a lot of hard work, dedication, sacrifice and teamwork to be successful.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching Newton football each Friday night. The offense was explosive, with big play touchdowns. Some new school records were made. The defense for the most part was solid and physical. The special teams had two long spectacular kick off returns for touchdowns. Dependable on extra points and field goals. The punting was at its best in the Decorah playoff game. Pinning the Vikings twice inside their own five-yard line.

I hope next year’s team works hard in the off season. Championship level teams are made in the off season. Extra work with Cardinal power (weight lifting). Play other sports, if possible attend football camps.

Above all, volunteer in the community, study hard and get good grades. I look forward to attending Newton football games next season.
