Jasper County is fortunate to have a young entrepreneur, Brad Magg, as a candidate for the Iowa House of Representatives (Iowa House District 38). Brad is a champion for rural Iowa, having served on the Colfax City Council since 2008, effectively building the economic interests of that community and helping to bring more than $10M of private investment to Colfax Main Street. Brad, of course, is best known for Goldie’s Ice Cream Shoppe in Prairie City and the Bacon Box at the Iowa State Fair, businesses Brad owns and operates, where his culinary prowess has led to multiple awards, including “Best Tenderloin in Iowa” in 2009, and a “new foods” award for “bacon balls” at the Iowa State Fair.
Brad offers his enthusiasm for life and a commitment to service to the voters of District 38. Not one to look back to ways “it’s always been done,” or to “walk the party line” at the behest of party leaders, Brad will bring a fresh voice to State government. A proven champion for ALL residents of the district, Brad will be seeking to listen, learn, and then represent the people of the district with an open mind and with an open heart. The values he promotes are values of building on our cherished freedoms while respecting the dignity of each individual.
We admire the way Brad has already been spending time in every corner of the district, including our own, very rural township. There is a genuineness and respect for the voter that is so evident in every interaction. That is why we will proudly be casting our votes for Brad Magg for Iowa House District 38, and why we encourage everyone else to do the same.
