I am writing you in regards to a recent letter that was submitted to the Newton News about handicap accessibility at H.A. Lynn Field. The letter was submitted by Tom Hollander from Newton.
He addressed the difficulty of trying to sit in the stands with no handrails. I am mobility-challenged (electric wheelchair) and would like to attend the games like everyone else. My grandson is a Newton Senior High band member. There is nowhere to enter, sit or spectate without being in the way or sitting on a sidewalk. I went to a recent home football game and was told to enter on the east side of the stadium and had to struggle to get the wheelchair through gravel.
I know that this issue has been presented to the city council. I would like to have a word in this. There is not enough accessibility for people who are handicapped or have mobility issues.
Who can I reach out to to make sure my voice and opinion is heard on this matter?
