It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the great folks of Jasper County, as State Representative, (House District 29) for the past five years. The work we have done and the journey taken has been very rewarding. I am proud of the things we have accomplished and know that the work will continue.
It is with excitement, I share the opportunity I have been offered; to fill the position as Assistant Director for the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy. Many of you know my background in law enforcement and as an educator; this new role fits right into my passion. I look forward to being part of a great team in providing excellence in law enforcement training to peace officers, jailers and telecommunicators from across the state.
I want to take the opportunity to thank those that have played such a supportive role in my time as a State Representative. I can’t thank my wife and family enough for their support and sacrifice. The lengthy hours of session, campaigning, meetings and phone calls are time away from family and they have been so supportive over the years. I have also been so fortunate to have an assistant at the Capitol that is second to none. Laura Engel has served as my assistant at the Capitol and we have worked as a team for Jasper County over the past five years. I want to thank her for all she has done and the sacrifice her and her family have made. In addition, I want to thank Carol Kramer for serving as co-campaign manager and her friendship over the years. There are so many others that have played such a vital role, it would be hard to name you all. Know that your support and friendship will never be forgotten.
With my duties and responsibilities at the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy, it is not possible to serve in both capacities and do them justice. With that, I am resigning as State Representative of HD 29, effective Sept. 10. Know that even though I will be stepping down, I am staying in Jasper County and will always be there for our friends and neighbors.
