Teresa Ann (Annie) Spoon, 67, of Newton, Iowa, passed away surrounded by her loving family. Born on October 4, 1957, in Cleveland, Ohio, Annie was the daughter of Charles Sloan and Leda Keithly.
As a young child, Annie moved with her family to Newport, Virginia, and later to Foster, West Virginia, where she spent her teenage years. It was in Foster that she would eventually marry the love of her life, Dale Spoon, on June 7, 1980. Their love story began thanks to her brother Charlie, who brought her to Iowa—where fate brought her and Dale together.
Annie was a woman of deep devotion—devotion to her family, to her friends, and to the things she loved most in life. She adored her grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with them. She had a creative spirit and was known for her talents in sewing, quilting, and crafting. She found beauty in nature, especially in her garden, and always felt a special pull toward the beach.
Her passion for flowers led to a fulfilling career as a floral designer at Hy-Vee in Newton, where she worked for 25 years before retiring in 2017. Annie took great pride in her work, creating arrangements that brought joy and comfort to so many in her community.
Left to honor her memory are her beloved husband of 44 years, Dale Spoon; her children, Derik Spoon, Hillary (Eric) Halsten, Amber Spoon, and Allicia (Andy) Bogart; her grandchildren, Rylee Jane Halsten, Hayley Allyn Sinclair (Clint Lieurance), and Jesse Sinclair (Michaela Schlup); and her brother, Bob Williams.
Annie’s warmth, creativity, and unwavering love will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
There is no funeral service scheduled at this time. Memorial donations may be made in Annie’s name to the Lupus Foundation of America and can be dropped off at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton.
