Linda Ruth Covert Campbell of Newton, IA passed away early morning on March 17th, 2025 at Mercy One West Lakes Hospital in West Des Moines.
Linda Campbell born on August 4th, 1936 in Essex Fells, NJ and grew up in Caldwell, NJ with her parents George and Dallas Covert and her brother, David. She graduated from Grover Cleveland High School in Caldwell NJ and attended at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts where she was an English major. She was married to Donn Campbell on August 17, 1957.
She had a variety of occupations over the course of her life including the Maytag Company, United States Census Bureau and Maytag Dairy Farms.
Her interests included theater, music, food and cooking and travel. She helped found and directed musicals and plays at the Newton Community Theater. During the COVID crisis, she started a bread ministry, baking 5 loaves six days a week and distributing them around Newton. She was very active for the last 25 years in social media and has friends around the world.
Mrs. Campbell was preceded in death by her parents George and Dallas, and her husband Donn. She is survived by her brother, Dallas Cove, of Fontana, CA; her daughter, Rebecca Campbell Cunningham (Tom) of West Des Moines, IA, her son Stewart Campbell (Robin) of Antioch, IL as well as 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life for Linda Campbell will be held on Saturday, March 29th at the First Presbyterian Church, 220 N. 2nd Ave E., Newton, IA, with visitation to begin at 10:00 AM, services at 11:00 AM and a luncheon in the fellowship hall to follow.
