Kevin Don Hegwood

Kevin Don Hegwood, 64, of Newton died on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at his home. A celebration of Kevin’s life will be held from 2-8 p.m., Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the Emerson Hough Izaak Walton League. Memorials to MercyOne Oncology – Newton may be left at the celebration or at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

Kevin, the son of Marion and Katherine (McConkey) Hegwood, was born on September 26, 1960, in Newton. He grew up in Newton and attended Newton schools.  Kevin was united in marriage with Kathleen “Kathy” Lingelbach on July 5, 1990, in Marshalltown.  They continued to make their home in Newton.  Kevin began his career at the Maytag Company and worked there for 10 years before becoming the Plant Manager at HoneyCorr for 18 years.  For the last nine years, Kevin was a panel builder for Jetco.

Kevin was a life-long fan of Sprint Car racing and loved camping in the summers at the North Campground in Knoxville. He was also a Dallas Cowboys fan through all the years. Kevin had many other interests that he enjoyed including golf, bowling, playing pool, and throwing horseshoes.  Most of all he loved time spent with family and friends.

Kevin is survived by his wife, Kathy Hegwood of Newton; children, Travis (Nicole) Hegwood of Newton and Tiffany (Brady) Sage of Newton; his grandchildren, Hayley, Riley, Micheal, Leighton, Bristol, Scarlett, and Blakelee; great-grandchildren, Carson, Everleigh, Hazel, and Izlla; his siblings, Kim (Gary) Moodie of Storm Lake, Tina Patterson of Pittsburgh, PA, Brenda Macy of Arlington, TX, and Jed (Amy) Hegwood of Columbus, OH; and his many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his father, Marion Hegwood; mother, Katherine Lambert; paternal and maternal grandparents; and several aunts and uncles.
