Johnathon Lee Braaksma

Johnathon “Johnny” Lee Braaksma passed unexpectedly in the early morning of February 24, 2025 at his home in Preston, Idaho. He was just 38 years old.

Johnny was born on April 9, 1986 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He had an untamable spirit and lived his life with passion and generosity. His true love was his music. From an early age, he began mastering every instrument he could get his hands on. He loved the drums and playing bass guitar the most.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Russell and Alice Jimenez and his paternal grandfather, Louis Braaksma Sr.

Johnny is survived by his parents, Louis Braaksma Jr. of Newton and Lisa Schmidt of Utah, his sisters, Tiffany Redford and Sharlee White, his brother Brandon Braaksma, his two daughters, and his grandmother, Donna Lang.

Johnathon loved his family more than anything and wanted Newton, to be his final resting place. A private family memorial service will be held in Newton in the near future.
