Barbara Lynn Cahill

Barbara Lynn Cahill

Barbara Lynn Cahill, 63, was born on August 22, 1961, in Indianola, Iowa. She was the only girl in a family of boys and had to learn to fend for herself from.an early age, as anyone with many brothers understands. She was a spitfire from the get-go. She attended Valley High School where she participated in track. Her specialty was hurdles, and she was always proud to say so. She was an old soul when it came to her entertainment. She loved Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Tony Bennett for music; and you couldn’t peel her away from the TV if there was an Old Western on. What she loved more than anything else in life was her family. Her pride and joy were her daughter, Lisa, and her son, Mark. You could always find her on the phone chatting away to Colleen, Tim, Aunt Sue, Mike, or her stepmother Pearl. If there was anything going on in your life, Barb was happy to lend a listening ear and hear about it.

She will be dearly missed by her surviving relatives: husband Mark Cahill (Newton, IA); son Mark Brown (Des Moines, IA); mother Colleen Morrow (Indianola, IA); stepsons Sean Cahill (Newton, IA) and Devan (Miranda) Cahill (Waukee, IA); stepdaughter Sara Cahill (Waterloo, IA); her brothers Tim Wilbur (Granger, IA), Mike Wilbur (Cooper City, FL) and Gregory Morrow (Coralville, IA); stepmother Pearl Wilbur (Sun City West, AZ); and her good friend Jackie Kleymann.

It brings us great peace to know she will be reunited with some family in death: brother Steve (1991), daughter Lisa (2018), and her father Karol Wilbur.

A memorial service for Barb will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2024, at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton, Iowa. There will be a visitation at the funeral home an hour prior to services, 1:30-2:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Barb’s honor to the Hope Ministries Campus for Women and Children in Des Moines. Checks may be made out to Mark Cahill.
