Rose Nadine Priaulx, at the age of 95, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, February 9, 2025. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, February 17, 2025, at the First Christian Church, followed by burial at Newton Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m., Monday, February 17, 2025, at the First Christian Church. Memorial contributions to First Christian Church can be left at the church on the day of the service or at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton.
Nadine was born near Mendota, MO in 1929 to Clifford and Fern (Cook) Stull. She was a graduate of Moulton High School. During her life in Newton, she was employed by The Vernon Company and later by the United Telephone Company. Following that, she worked for 24 years at The Maytag Company in the collections department and industrial engineering department. After retiring from Maytag in 1990, Nadine worked part-time at the Maytag Dairy Farm for 19 years until her health declined. Nadine was an active member of the First Christian Church in Newton. She enjoyed trying out new recipes, baking, square dancing and shopping. She particularly enjoyed line dancing for 19 years with the Newton Peppy Steppers line dance club.
Nadine is survived by her sons, Gary (Janet) Strobel of Newton and Tim Strobel (Kelly Fields) of Kellogg; her stepchildren, David (Sherry) Priaulx of Jackson, TN, and Cindy (George) Wormley of Newton. Her grandchildren are Ashley (Wayne) McFarland of Dunedin, FL, Kendra Strobel of Tiffin, Kegan (Staci) Strobel of Pella, Olivia (Bryson) Cline and Sam Strobel of Grinnell, Kristen Mehmen, and Thomas Mehmen. Her step grandchildren are Tyler (Haley) Graham of Grinnell, Chris Priaulx of Des Moines, Jason Priaulx of Jackson, TN, Matt (Stacey) Wormley of Indianola, Mariah Wormley of West Des Moines, and Jenna Priaulx of Newton. She also has 10 great-grandchildren: Jacob, Bryce, Bailey, Mason, Taylor, Beckett, Clay, Halle, Banks, and Mason. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Letha Hill of Ottumwa, her very special sister-in-law is Carol Casteel (Donnie) of Centerville, Iowa: and several nieces and nephews.
Nadine was preceded in death by her husband, Dwight Priaulx in 2011; stepson, Randy Priaulx; her parents; her brother, Gene; and her sisters, Colleen and Dorothy, as well as their husbands, Russell Southern and Kendall Oden.
A thank you to the nurses, CNAs, and all the staff at Newton Village who cared for Nadine during her last 34 months.
A special thanks to Nadine’s niece, Donna Cook of Newton who repeatedly used her decades of nursing experience to ask questions and make suggestions that made Nadine’s final years more comfortable.
And finally, a special thanks to Nadine’s granddaughter, Kendi who brightened Nadine’s day every time she arrived with a box of fancy pastries from another Iowa City bakery.
