Fredrick Earl Criswell, of Newnan, Georgia, and formerly of Grinnell, Iowa, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2024. Born in Grinnell on January 12, 1947, Fred was the son of Raymond Earl Criswell and Leone Cress Dohrn.
Fred married Margie Young Criswell on October 6, 1973, and shared over 50 years of love and devotion with her. Together, they raised four children and welcomed nine grandchildren into their family. Fred’s life was defined by his steadfast faith, unconditional love for his family, dedication to serving others, and service in the United States Army.
Fred was passionate about spreading the Word of God. He made an impact through his involvement in prison ministry, the Newton Christian Conference Center, the Iowa Speedway Ministry, and through supporting international ministries. He will also be remembered for his joy in teaching God’s Word.
Outside of his ministry, Fred was well-loved for his entrepreneurial spirit and for owning pizza restaurants that brought people together. He delighted in cooking, gardening, sharing his sharp sense of humor, and creating fun moments with his family and friends.
Fred’s memory is cherished by his loving wife, Margie, and their children: Jeremy (Shana) Criswell, Jenny (Aaron) Snyder, Jessica (William) Owens, and Joshua Criswell. He is also survived by his sister, Karen Schemerhorn; sister-in-law, Kennetha Criswell; nine grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; many beloved brothers- and sisters-in-law, and step sisters, Mary Johnson and Marilyn Gropper
