Eugene Marvin Anderson, the son of Merlin Alvin Anderson, Maxine Charlotte (Hansen) Koch and step-son of Marvin Koch was born January 13, 1943, in Austin, Minnesota.
On June 15, 1963, Eugene was united in marriage with his highschool sweetheart, Carole McAnally in Austin, Minnesota. Eugene worked as a Machinist for the Maytag Company in Newton, Iowa for over 30 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the U.A.W. Local #997. Eugene enjoyed socializing, gardening, fishing, and spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren. He was a dedicated father, a fun-loving grandpa and a devoted husband. He led by example, was the first to show up to help, a friend to all and he didn’t know a stranger. He was a happy man who was always ready to share a joke or a story and would not hesitate to help those in need.
Eugene died on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Pacifica Sun City Senior Living in Sun City Center, Florida. He was 81 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father; his son, Michael Anderson; brother, Duane Anderson and his sister, Marilyn Nyberg.
Those left to honor Eugene’s memory include his wife, Carole; his son Chris (Vera) Anderson; his daughters, Heidi Anderson (Randall Biehl), Heather (Frank) Battaglia, and his honorary daughter Mary (Reid) Nakamura; his twelve grandchildren; his six great grandchildren; and his brothers, Michael (Anne) Koch and Gary (Janet) Zander.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton. A Facebook Live broadcast will begin at 11:00 a.m. on the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home and Cremation Services Facebook page. A visitation with the family will be held prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
