Margaret Durbala

Margaret Durbala of Newton, Iowa, passed away on October 19, 2024. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton. The family will greet friends at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. A private burial will be held.

Survivors include daughter, Denise (Bill) Bornhausen of Minneapolis, MN; sons, Matt (Peggy) of Poplar Grove, IL and Greg (Tracie) of Houston, TX; grandchildren Katarina Bornhausen, Dominic, Benjamin and Abigail Durbala, Aaron and Emily (Dani) Durbala, Natasha (Anthony) Spiezia; great grandchildren, Emily Spiezia and Liam and Daniel Murrow; her  sister, Barb (Bruce) Gaylor of Hastings, MN and sister-in-law, Suzane Durbala of St. Augustine, FL.

She was preceded in death by husband, Thomas; granddaughter, Annalisa Bornhausen; parents, Vincent and Helen; and sister Patty McDermott.

A life-long Newton resident, she was united in marriage with Thomas Durbala on July 7, 1962. She served as Newton City Clerk and was an active volunteer with Jasper County 4-H and Skiff Hospital. She was a member and volunteer at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
