Jack W. Trotter, 74, died Sunday, October 13, 2024.
He was a Newton native and a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church.
Survived by Kathy, wife; Larry Trotter, brother; Arlene Badger, sister; children: Jason Trotter, Jodi Holmes (Matt), Jill Johnson and Kathy’s children: Angela Plumb-Abel (Tom), James Plumb and Laura Phipps. Also missing him are 20 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, his cousins and many nieces and nephews.
He will be remembered for his love for family, his fun-loving orneriness, his penchant for fixing things, his love of fishing and camping, his work ethic and his passion for the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Preceding him in death are Parents, Jack and Sylvia Trotter, Mother and Father-in-law, Del and Mary Emperly, brother-in-laws Dick Badger and Howard Shore, sister-in-law Barb Trotter, uncles Dave Trotter, Ron Trotter, Terry Trotter, Dick Kalma, John Kalma, aunt Ann Sanders, nephew Mark Shore and niece Lori Koonen.
Jack served his country for 7 years in the Iowa National Guard.
Bowling with the Gas House Gang for the Maytag League brought him many years of good times and good friends. His fishing trips to Canada, the annual canoe trips, and summer vacations at the Trotter Resort in Minnesota made him happy.
Jack chose cremation. No service is planned at this time. We will host a gathering of friends and family in the future.
