Robert E. Wickett, the son of Henry C., Sr. and Gladys I. (Toole) Wickett, was born December 11, 1924, in New Virginia, Iowa.  He graduated from the New Virginia Senior High School with the class of 1942.  Bob served his country in the United States Navy from 1943-1946.

On October 27, 1946, Bob was united in marriage with Rosalind Main at the First United Methodist Church in Newton, Iowa.  Bob worked for the Maytag Company for 32 years, retiring, as a supervisor, in the sheet metal department.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Westwood Golf Club; the V.F.W. Newton Post #1655, the American Legion Newton Post #111, and the Newton Elks Lodge #1270. Bob enjoyed golfing and had a hole-in-one.  He was also an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan.

Bob died on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at MercyOne Newton Medical Center.  He was 99 years old.  Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rosalind on November 8, 1997; his brothers, Lloyd Wickett, Franklin Wickett, Kermit (Peggy) Wickett, Henry (Sheila) Wickett, Jr.; his sisters, Mildred (Don) Lyon, Evelyn (Bob) Hubler and Jerry Brown.

Those left to honor Bob’s memory include his daughters, Carol (Dennis) Koon, Christine Wickett and Cathleen Wickett; his grandchildren, Sandy (Matt) Scotton, Susie (Tony) Gates, Matthew (Sara) Koon, Curtis (Callie) Heck, Amanda (Jordan) Roberts; his great grandchildren, Kora (Matt) Skarshaug, Hannah (Noah) Stephas, Katie Gates, Ryan Gates, Tyler Gates, Nick Gates, Brayden (Zoey) Koon, Kambell Koon, Joziah Koon, Bentley Heck, Brycen Heck, Kaitlyn Noel, Emma Noel, Drayton Roberts, Davin Roberts; his great-great grandson, Kai Skarshaug; his brother, David Wickett and sisters-in-law, Janet Wickett and Kathy Wickett and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m., Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home.  The family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.  Memorials may be designated to the Jasper County Courthouse Christmas Lighting Fund or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and may be left at Pence Reese Funeral Home.
