Jeff Follett, 69, of Newton died Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Unity Point-Iowa Methodist in Des Moines. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, August 11, 2024 at Briggs Woods Shelter #2 in Webster City. Foster Funeral and Cremation Center is entrusted with the services.
Jeffrey Lynn Follett, son of Donald and Colleen (Carroll) Follett, was born October 30, 1954 in Webster City. He graduated from Webster City High School in 1973 and received a degree in welding from DMACC in 1977. On April 2, 1977 Jeff was united in marriage to Leslie Ann Finch in Webster City. He owned and operated Economy Welding, before receiving a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from ISU. Jeff worked many years for WC Products in maintenance, the test lab and later as an engineer. Jeff then went to work for Maytag and Whirlpool as an engineer. He worked for TPI and Springboard and UL labs as an engineer, prior to his retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Leslie; son, Aaron Follett of Newton; brothers, Doug Follett of Jefferson, Jon Follett of Webster City; sisters, Janet Follett of Mesa, AZ, Dawn (Keith) Holdgrafer of Webster City; mother-in-law, Charlotte Finch of Webster City; sisters-in-law, Lori (Jim) Flaws of Carlisle, Becky Finch of Webster City and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Jeff is preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Maynard Finch; sister-in-law, Mary Follett and brother-in-law, Kevin Finch.
He was an outdoors man, collector and loved to work, remodel, tinker and fix things.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the family to contribute to organizations that were dear to Jeff.
