Richard Davis

Richard “Tony” Davis, the son of Edgar Eugene and Avanelle Louise (Mayse) Davis, was born September 24, 1941, in Huntington, West Virginia. Tony proudly served his country in the United States Marines.

He was an accomplished musician and trained boxers for his dad. He worked in the field of sales and security for many years.

On May 7, 2005, Tony was united in marriage with Marilyn Beth McFate in Yerington, Nevada. Tony loved the Lord. He enjoyed boxing, “found” art, rock hunting, gold mining, hiking, playing guitar, and had a great sense of humor.

Tony died June 27, 2024, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was 82 years old. Tony was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Tony Davis Jr.; and a sister, Rosemary McCabe.

Those left to honor Tony’s memory include his wife, Marilyn Davis; his sons, Raymond Davis, Thomas (Cheryl) Davis, David (LuAnn) Davis, Robert (Dawn) Davis, Scott Davis, and Ronnie Oldham; his daughters, Staci Carlson, Danielle (Ben) Galan, Laura (Justin) Ancheta, Susie Oldham, and Hope Oldham; 31 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; his sisters, Sandra Stanley and Sherry Davis; his brothers, Michael Davis, Sr., Steve Davis, Jack Davis, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. on July 12, 2024, at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton, Iowa. A Facebook Live broadcast will begin at 2:00 p.m. on the Pence Reese Funeral Home Facebook page.

The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Friday prior to the service. Memorials may be designated in Tony’s name and left at the funeral home.
