Virgil Gene Hartz, 95, of Newton, died Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at MercyOne Des Moines. A funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 8 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Newton. The family will greet friends after the service with a lunch at the church. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Lacona. The Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory is handling the services.
