Frederick Castorf (Fred) Simons, 80, of Newton, Iowa went home to his Lord and Savior on Friday, April 5, 2024, in his home with his wife by his side.
Fred was born on June 13, 1943, in Newton, IA to Glenn and Evelyn (Castorf) Simons. Fred was a 1961 graduate of Newton High School. He then attended Dunwoody Institute, in Minneapolis, MN, where he studied tool and die. He worked at various jobs before opening his own business, Simons Auto Restoration and Machine Shop in Newton, IA, where he restored old cars. On February 23rd, 1990, Fred joined hands in marriage with Bonny Cobler at the Ruan Center in Des Moines, Iowa. He enjoyed collecting old cars and going to car shows. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where he provided transportation for children and special needs individuals along with working several years in the Awana program.
Fred is survived by his wife of 34 years, Bonny (Cobler) Simons; his three children, Jenifer Liver of Denver, CO, Jeff Simons and James Simons of Sun City, Arizona; three step-children Brandi (Erik Gustaitis) Robinson of Newton, Iowa, Angela (Jasen) Langley of Altoona, Iowa, Ryan (Jeff Deal) Brown of Little Rock, Arkansas; eight step-grandchildren Shana Robinson of Altoona, Iowa, Tyler Robinson of Newton, Iowa, Connor Gustaitis of Newton, Iowa, Savannah, Kale, Zoe, Oliver and Riley Langley of Altoona, Iowa; his brother David (Paulette) Simons of Newton, Iowa; son-in-law Rex Robinson; nieces and nephews, and many friends and church family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Glenda McGaha and step-granddaughter Mackenzie Robinson.
Funeral services will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church in Newton, Iowa, on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. A livestream of the service will be held on the Pence-Reese Facebook page. The family will greet guests at the church from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Saint Andrews Cemetery in rural Sully, Iowa.
