Allison Rhea Simmons, 65, of Newton died on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at her home. No services are scheduled. Memorials in Allison’s name (checks made payable to Kyle Simmons) may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.
Allison, the daughter of Kenneth and Carmen (Bravard) Ezell, was born on August 9, 1958 in Nevada, Iowa. Growing up, Allison lived in multiple towns around central Iowa graduating from Lincoln High School in 1977. After graduation, she moved to California for a short time and then to Illinois to take care of family, before returning to Iowa. In 1989, she moved to Newton. On July 13, 1990, Allison was united in marriage with Kyle Simmons in Marshalltown. Allison had worked for Vermeer in Pella, drove a route truck for the Newton Daily News, and most recently was cleaning for Scott Creech at Domino’s Pizza and the Newton Laundromat. Allison enjoyed yardwork and loved mowing, gardening, and raking at her own house and also for neighbors, other family members, and friends. She was a natural caregiver and had taken care of many family members throughout the years.
Allison is survived by her husband, Kyle Simmons of Newton; children, Phillip Lanzarotta (Jessica) of Newton and MacKenzie Cox of Newton; grandchildren, Phinley, Jordyn, Dane, and Evelyn; and her siblings, Kim Anderson, Andy (Melissa) Ezell, and Mike Ezell. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Cindy Main; and a brother, Steven Ezell.
