Norman W. Boyle, 93, of Newton died on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at his home in Park Centre. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday March 20, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton. The family will greet friends after the burial with a luncheon at the church. Memorials to the church or to Progress Industries may be left at the church the day of the service or at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.
Norm was born in Appleton, Wisconsin, on April 20, 1930, to Henry and Viola (Sack) Boyle. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1952 and served two years in the Army during the Korean War.
In 1956, he moved to Newton, Iowa, where he joined the Maytag Company, retiring in 1994 as Director of Advertising after 38 years with the company. He continued representing Maytag on the National Advertising Review Board of the Better Business Bureau for several years following his retirement.
Norm served as President of the Maytag Management Club and the Des Moines chapter of the Public Relations Society of America of which he was an accredited member. He was also a member of the Newton Kiwanis Club for several years.
Norm married Esther E Sevenich in Stockbridge, Wisconsin, on December 12, 1953, and the couple had six children: Nancy (Mark) Erickson of Greensboro, Georgia, Craig (Julie) Boyle of Zionsville, Indiana, Susan Boyle of Dallas, Texas, Mary Boyle (Steve Furman) of Berwick, Thomas (Sandy) Boyle of Johnston, and Ellen Boyle Gipe (Mike) of Newton. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Donna (Ron) West of Leesburg, Florida. He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marian Driessen; and a great-grandson, Owen David Murphy.
