Jane “Janie” Buell (Isensee) Kahn, 71, of Newton, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2024, at Park Centre under the care of Wesley Life Hospice after battling Guillain-Barre syndrome and complications for the past six weeks. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm., Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at the funeral home. Janie was born March 20, 1952, to Robert H. and Mary E. (Buell) Isensee in Mason City. A graduate of Mason City High School and the University of Iowa, Janie devoted her life to raising her family: twin daughters, Mollie and Megan and son, Rob. She was an avid sports fan and attended nearly every sporting event during their youth, prep and college careers. Watching and cheering for her beloved Iowa women’s basketball team brought her so much joy.
Over the years, she loved spending quality time with family: summers in Clear Lake; winters in Naples, FL; family vacations, holiday gatherings and birthday celebrations, and most recently, loved spoiling her beautiful grandchildren who adoringly called her Gigi.
Janie was active during her adult life in HS, PEO; Theta Chi; and “birthday club”. Until her death, she was a FNNB Bank and United Iowa Bancshares board member, and generously supported St Jude Children’s Hospital, several local charities, and various other causes that tugged at her heart.
Janie is survived by her husband, Gary of Newton; daughters, Mollie (Mike) of Sioux City, Megan, of Snowmass Village, CO; son, Rob (Kristin) of Newton; and four grandchildren, Cameron, Cooper, Jordyn, and Gia. Extended family and loved ones include Roberta “Bobbie” (Dave) Kahn, Cynthia “Cyndi” (Craig) Thorson, Shannon Murphy, Herb Dougall, Mitchell (Angie) Humphreys, Gregory (Charlotte) Miller, Joseph (Kellie) Miller, and Alexander (Amanda) Miller. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Elisabeth “Beth” Miller; father-in-law, Morris O. “Bud” Kahn; and sister-in-law Laurie Kahn.
