Susan Claseman of Newton, Iowa passed away on February 23, 2024, at the age of 66. She was born on June 27, 1957, in Newton, Iowa, to Edward Claseman and Rosalie (Miller) Claseman.
Susan’s educational journey took her through Newton High School, where she graduated in 1975. She furthered her education with a series of courses at Marshalltown Community College from 1975 to 1978, demonstrating her commitment to learning. In 1991, she proudly graduated from the University of Northern Iowa, marking a significant achievement in her life.
During the late 80s and early 90s, Susan dedicated her professional life to customer service, contributing her skills to both Hy-Vee and Walmart in Newton, Iowa. Her friendly demeanor and commitment to serving others left a lasting impact on the community.
A member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton, Susan found solace and strength in her faith. She was known for her warm and caring nature, qualities that extended into her role as a mother. Susan was a loving and devoted mom, creating cherished memories with her son Cory. She was often seen cheering with him at local baseball games, showcasing her unwavering support.
One of Susan’s delightful traditions was dressing up her son as a clown every Halloween, creating joy and laughter in the hearts of those around her. This playful and endearing gesture reflected her loving spirit and the joy she brought to her family and friends.
Susan will be remembered not only for her professional achievements but for the love, warmth, and kindness she shared with those fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family, friends, and the community she touched throughout her life.
Susan is survived by her son, Cory (Brandy) Claseman, of Newton; her granddaughter Charlie; sisters Bonnie (Brad) Vos and Diane (Dave) Larson; brothers David (Jacque) Claseman, Dennis Claseman, and Gary Claseman; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Friday, March 1, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. Susan’s family will greet friends at the church an hour prior to services from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Lucy’s Pet Pantry in Susan’s honor.
