The family will greet friends from 4-7 p.m., Friday, January 5, 2024, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton. Memorials to the Kellogg Fire Department or the East Jasper Food Pantry can be left at the funeral home or at the church on the day of the service.
Jane, the daughter of Murray and Velda (Gordinier) Park, was born March 18, 1954, in Newton. She graduated from Newton High School in 1972. She then obtained her RN degree. Jane worked at Skiff Medical Center and then at the Boone County Hospital, retiring in 2017 after a 40-year nursing career. She was united in marriage with Dennis Stevenson on March 6, 1992, at Ashton Chapel in rural Mingo.
Jane enjoyed spending time with friends and family, gardening, and was a master crafter who could create almost anything and enjoyed helping others learn to craft as well. She served as a nurse and paramedic on the Kellogg Fire Department for many years. To Jane, nursing was more than a profession—it was who she was. She mentored many other nurses, cared for family, and took time from her job to care for multiple family members and friends during their times of need. Jane was dedicated to her family and was a constant presence at their events and activities.
Those left to honor Jane’s memory include her husband, Dennis Stevenson of Kellogg; her children, Josh (Kylea) Ryther of West Des Moines, Clistia Ryther of Newton, Kindra Stevenson (Curt Babbitt) of Kellogg, and Kiel (Celsey) Stevenson of Marshalltown; 9 grandchildren: Parker, Charlie, Jack, Kyleigh, Kendyl, Madelyn, Brayden, Abel, and Faith; her great-granddaughter, Elaina; her siblings, Gary (Barb) Park of Dallas Center, Pat (Bob) Laugalis of Canyon Lake, CA, and Pam (Steve) Dennison of Coralville; and her nieces and nephews.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law; and her grandparents.
