Marjorie M. Richards, 96, of Cleveland, Tennessee, formerly of Newton, died on Friday, December 22, 2023, at Signature Healthcare of Cleveland. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials to the donor’s choice may be left at the funeral home.
Marjorie, the daughter of Noah and Velma (Carson) Baker, was born on November 20, 1927 in Lucas, Iowa. She moved to Newton in 1942, and graduated from Newton High School in the class of 1945. On November 25, 1948, Marjorie was united in marriage with Charles Richards in Newton. She was a homemaker and also worked as a secretary for Finch Insurance, Skiff Hospital, Production Credit Association, and the Vernon Company, retiring in 1989.
Marjorie was a member of United Presbyterian Church prior to her move to Cleveland. She also enjoyed going to the casino and playing card games. Additionally, she enjoyed cooking and hosting Sunday family dinners.
Marjorie is survived by her daughters, Karen (Jimmy) Sanders of Cleveland, Tennessee, and Michelle (Alan) Marlowe of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; grandchildren, Joe Harrington, Jon Harrington, Matt Favors (Alix Lifka-Reselman), Malory (Willie) Garcia, and Nate (Denelle) Marlowe; great-grandchildren, Logan (Savannah), Stormy, Trey, Lucas, Jacob, and Presley; 9 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Richards; daughter, Reina Favors; and siblings, Margarite Lukenbaugh, Betty Nelson, and Garold Baker.
