Lawrence D. “Larry” Flattery, 66, of Epworth, Iowa passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Mercy One Medical Center in Dubuque, Iowa, surrounded by his family.

Visitation for Larry was held from 3 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at the Reiff Funeral Home in Epworth, Iowa. Services for Larry were held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Placid, Iowa with Rev. James Flattery presiding. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Liz” Flattery of Epworth; three children, Sara ( Nick) Tiedje of Newton, Ryan (Megan) Flattery, and Van (Maddy) Flattery both of Bondurant; four step-children, Todd (Karen) Bergfeld of Cascade, Ted (Kelli) Bergfeld of Farley, Troy Bergfeld of Republic, MO, and Michelle (Scott) Lasack of Farley; 18 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; six siblings, Stephen (Linda) Flattery of Indianola, Donald (Kimberly) Flattery of Glendale, AZ, Edward (Mary Dell) Flattery, Mary (Dave) Smith, and Tina (Tim) Holzworth all of Colfax; brothers and sisters-in-law, Donna Strief, Jerome Simon, Leo Simon, Peter (Laurie) Simon, and Diane Simon all of Farley, Lou Ann (Clyde) Oberbroeckling of Holy Cross, Theresa (Bob) Noonan of Monticello, Eileen (Brian) Hoefler of New Vienna, Larry (Janet) Simon of Peosta, and Bob (Fern) Simon of Lewiston; several nieces and nephews; and friend Connie Simon of Key West.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Elaine (Cory) Warrick; one brother Bernie Colfax; three brothers-in-law, Ralph Simon Jr., Carl Simon, and William Strief; three nephews, Marty Streif, Corey Simon, and Michael Streif.
