Jim (Jamie) Kimler, 57, of Springfield, Missouri, died on July 21, 2023, with family present, at Cox South Hospital, Springfield, Missouri, following an accident in his home. Born on November 11, 1965, in Newton, Iowa, Jim grew up in Newton, graduating from Newton High School with the class of 1984.
While growing up in Newton, Jim was a member of First Lutheran Church. He later served in the Army National Guard and spent two years active duty in Korea. He moved to Springfield, Missouri, where he pursued a career in landscaping work.
Jim is survived by his cousin, Lisa McLeod; stepmother Connie Kimler; stepsisters Patricia (Patti) Sivils, Roseanne Schrader, and Debbie Carter; stepbrother Matthew Graif; nieces Kayla Sivils, Lisa Sacia, and Angie Carter; nephews Cory Sivils, Jonathan Graif, Christopher Graif, Jason Schrader, and Daniel Carter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Phyllis Kimler and James (Jim) Kimler, uncles Eugene (Bud) Kingma and Donald Kimler, aunt Colleen McLeod, stepfather Norman Lanphier, and all grandparents.
No public service is planned. The family is thankful for all of the family and friends that enriched, and were enriched by, Jim’s life. His love, sense of humor, and smiles remain in our hearts.
