David A. Anderson, 90, of Newton, died peacefully on Monday, September 18, 2023 under the care of Wesley Hospice and Park Centre Community.
The family will greet friends at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home, Friday, September 22, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. followed by Graveside services at 1:45 p.m. at Newton Union Cemetery. Memorials may be designated in David’s name.
Born June 23, 1933, in Perkins, Oklahoma, to Keith and Opal Anderson, David was the second eldest of five children.
David received his education from Oklahoma A&M, now known as Oklahoma State University, before serving honorably in the U.S. Air Force from 1952-1955 teaching electronics and missile maintenance. His career path included teaching as a Professor of Electronics in Wolfe Point, Montana. David received his pilot license and enjoyed flying.
David will be remembered as an affectionate and loving husband, as well as, his patience and “witty” sense of humor. He also had a heart for funding various dog rescues and the Wounded Warrior Project.
Those left to honor David’s memory include his wife, Doris Anderson of Newton, Iowa; his daughters, Susan Riley of Villa Rica, Georgia and Sherrie Anderson of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
David was preceded in death by his parents and his four siblings.
