Jamie, the son of Roy and Mary (Breere) Thomasson, was born on July 28, 1961 in Knoxville. He grew up in Knoxville, Monroe, and Lynnville-Sully before making his home in Newton. On April 5, 1980, Jamie was united in marriage with Lorie Gladson in Newton. During their 32 years of marriage they made their home in Newton, Laurel, and then back in Newton. During that time Jamie worked at the Foundry, Snook’s Lumber, and Midwest Manufacturing. In 1989, he began working at the Maytag Company until it’s closure 18 years later. For almost 10 years, Jamie had been living in Russell; spending time taking care and playing with his grandchildren.

Jamie was a member of the UAW Local 997. He enjoyed playing pool, fishing, storm watching, sitting by bonfires with friends and family, and going for rides in the country. In earlier years he also liked to go metal detecting, collect coins, and flower and vegetable garden. Jamie liked listening to the radio and was known to call in and win tickets for his family to go to concerts or Adventureland. He loved music, but his favorite artist was always George Jones.

Jamie is survived by his children, Elisha (Steve) Jordan of Newton and Tate Thomasson of Russell; four grandchildren, Chantal Jordan, Irason Jordan, Jada~Marie Jordan, and Kaycee Thomasson; his siblings, Jan Poulson, Paula Smith, and Joy (Chris) Hagedorn, all of Newton; his wife of 32 years, Lorie Thomasson; a special friend, Donna McDaniels; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Pam Thomasson and Jay Thomasson.
