Clifford Curry, age 90, of Prairie City, Iowa, passed away on April 27, 2023, at the Comfort House in Pella, Iowa. A visitation for Clifford will be held at Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held the following day, May 3, 2023, at the Prairie City Church of The Brethren at 11:00 AM. A luncheon will be provided by the family after the funeral, and all are welcome to attend. Memorials for Clifford may be made out to the Comfort House in Pella or the Prairie City Church of The Brethren. A cremation will be held following the service and a burial will be held at a later date. Condolences may be left online at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com
The son of Colonel Curry and Hazel (Rosbrough) Curry, Clifford was born in Adelphi, Iowa on April 9, 1933. Clifford served in the United States Army as a young man. Upon returning home, he had his 1955 Chevy parked outside while the gutters at the family home were being worked on. Almost jokingly, Rosalie Bailey mentioned that she would love a ride in that car. Clifford happily took Rosalie for a ride, and even told her father he would drive her home that evening. Clifford and Rosalie were married on November 10, 1956 in Altoona, Iowa. Their marriage would span for 66 years. A farmer by occupation, Clifford had many hobbies that involved the outdoors. He enjoyed riding horses on trails, camping, and going on motorcycle trips with Rosalie. One fond memory was when he participated in the horse drawn wagon ride to the 150th annual Iowa State Fair in 2005.
Those left to honor Clifford’s memory are his wife; Rosalie (Bailey) Curry, three children; Scott (Angela) Curry, Robert (Susan) Curry, and Rebecca (Patrick) Kaiser, grandchildren; Jennifer (Patrick) Meyer, Megan (Rob) Irwin, Nathan (Jennifer) Curry, Sara (Brandon) Provolt, Adam (Tonya Vetter) Kaiser, Travis (Lainy) Curry, and Tara (Mitch) Williams, great grandchildren: Caleb, Bailey, Josie, William, Logan, Colter, Peyton, Charlotte, Simon, Munson, and Hazel, his siblings; Ralph (Arlys) Curry, Pete (Julie) Curry, Jeannette (Melvin) Ward, and a sister in law, Donna Curry.
Preceding Clifford in death were his parents; Colonel and Hazel, a great grandson; Gabriel, a brother; Richard Curry, and his sister, Deloris Astley.
