Robert (Bob) Ralph Goodhue, was born to Robert Elihu and Ellen (Kinney) Goodhue on May 24, 1946. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Donna Goodhue Morton and Shirley Goodhue Morton.
Bob passed away the evening of April 3, 2023, at Kavanaugh House, Des Moines, surrounded by his wife and family.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Judy (Piper) Goodhue, daughters Terri Blair and Dana Burton (Curtis) and five grandchildren, Autumn Burton (Levi), Eleanor Hansen, Isaak Hansen, Kennedy Ortmeier, and Laurel Schoppa, and two great grandchildren, Amelia and Sam Burton. He is also survived by his sister Myra Goodhue, and sister- and brother-in-law Pam and Bruce Fischer, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to many years of farming, he was employed as Vice President of Operations for Des Moines Asphalt and Paving for the entirety of his working life. Following retirement, he became skilled at making furniture and wooden clocks. Bob was an avid reader and he loved his many trips to Branson, and trips with the grandkids to any Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum. Nothing was more important to him than Judy and his family. He and Judy were each other’s first and last loves and he frequently reminisced about the years they were together…sixty plus.
Special recognition is due to his daughter Dana for her care of Bob and Judy which prolonged Bob’s life. A private family celebration of life will be held at their home on April 8.
