Delmar Eugene Nolin, 91, of Newton died on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at his home. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 17, 2023, at Newton Union Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 12:00-1:30 p.m., Friday, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorials in Delmar’s name (checks made payable to Karen Campbell) may be left at the funeral home.
Delmar, the son of Roy and Freda (Rexroat) Nolin, was born on March 23, 1931 in Reasnor. He grew up in the Reasnor and Monroe area and graduated from Monroe High School in 1950. Right after high school he began working at the Maytag Company in Newton. Shortly after though he had to take a leave from Maytag to serve his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1952-1954. After being discharged he returned to Jasper County and his job at the Maytag Company. On September 21, 1956, Delmar was united in marriage with Verna Lee Krutsinger. In 1959, they made their home in Newton. Delmar would work at Maytag for almost 40 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the UAW Local 997. Delmar enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, and playing cards. He liked spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and getting together with friends.
Delmar is survived by his children, Steve (Sue) Nolin of Newton, Craig (Jean) Nolin of Newton, and Karen (Jeff) Campbell of Baxter; four grandchildren, Zach Nolin, Samantha (Dustin) Kaisand, Chad Nolin, and Madison (Jon) Beckham; his five great-grandchildren, Marlee, Aubrey, Alex, Addy, and Vera; and his sister, Marjorie Farmer of Indianola. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Verna Lee Nolin; grandson, Ryan Nolin; brother, Harold (Louise) Nolin; and a brother-in-law, Homer Farmer; and a special friend, Anna Mae Morgan.
